Awards and recognitions
Throughout its history, HumanizaCom has been recognized for its academic and social contributions, resulting from its commitment to ethical, humanitarian and transcendent communication, focused on building peace, social justice and resilience in the face of contemporary challenges. Part of this recognition is translated into the research group's participation in numerous projects and initiatives with public and private institutions, national and international, and part is materialized in awards and merits, as described in this section.
Jorge Amado Order of Merit Medal – Itapevi City Council
In 2022, the Itapevi City Council awarded the Jorge Amado Medal of Merit to HumanizaCom leader Cilene Victor in recognition of her significant contribution to education and public communication. The honor highlights her work as the head of the Ricardo Boechat Political Journalism Course and Award since 2019, as well as the development of actions aligned with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The medal celebrates the professor's dedication to initiatives that promote citizenship, critical thinking, and engagement with the contemporary challenges of democracy.


Motion of Applause for the HumanizaCom Research Group - Itapevi City Council
In February 2022, HumanizaCom was honored by the Itapevi City Council with a Motion of Applause, proposed by councilors Rafael Alan de Moraes Romeiro and Eronidina Ferreira Godoy. The honor recognizes the research group's contribution to carrying out training actions in partnership with the Dr. Osmar de Souza School of Parliament, such as the Ricardo Boechat Course and Award in Political Journalism and the extension course The Social Dimension of Public Policies in Cities - Perspectives of the 2030 Agenda under the Lens of Humanitarian and Peace Communication.

2nd Place in the 8th Edition of the ABEU Award – Applied Social Sciences Category
Organized by Cidoval Morais de Sousa, professor at the State University of Paraíba (UEPB), and Cilene Victor, professor at UMESP and leader of HumanizaCom , the book A pandemia na sociedade de risco: perspectivas da comunicação (The pandemic in risk society: perspectives on communication ) won second place in the 2022 ABEU Award, in the Applied Social Sciences category. The award from the Brazilian Association of University Presses annually recognizes works published by universities. Published by the Press of the State University of Paraíba (EDUEPB), the book brings together national and international contributions on the challenges of risk communication, disinformation and humanitarian journalism during the COVID-19 health crisis, becoming a critical reference for the field of Communication and Social Sciences.
